NYC Indoor Dining To Re-Open This Month

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced NYC restaurants will be allowed to serve diners indoors starting in three weeks!

Empty restaurant dining room

Indoor dining in the city will be allowed starting Sept. 30 and restaurants will have to operate at 25% capacity, Cuomo said.

With indoor dining, the New York City restaurants will have to follow specific rules aimed at lessening the possibility of a coronavirus outbreak.

Dining Rules:

  • Temperature checks for customers.
  • One customer in a party will be required to give contact information if virus tracing is necessary.
  • Indoor dining customers will also be required to wear masks whenever they are not seated at a table.
  • Bar service will not be allowed.
  • Closing time is at midnight.

New York City has been the only region of the state with a ban on indoor dining, an unfair advantage for city restaurants since other restaurants across the state have been allowed to be open for months. City restaurants complained that the indoor dining ban remained in place, even though the area reports lower coronavirus figures than other parts of the state.
