Taso Pardalis' Pick:

Cover of The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi

Joe D. Nohavicka gave me this book when I first met him in 2005 and I have read it at least 10 times, as translated in 3 different versions.

Some translations are for business strategy, some for martial arts, and some for philosophy.

No matter which version I read or how many times I read it, I always glean something new from this book. In trying times like these it is very helpful.

Here are a few hand-picked quotes to share:

It is said the warrior's is the twofold Way of pen and sword, and he should have a taste for both Ways. Even if a man has no natural ability he can be a warrior by sticking assiduously to both divisions of the Way. Generally speaking, the Way of the warrior is resolute acceptance of death.Miyamoto Musashi
There is nothing outside of yourself that can ever enable you to get better, stronger, richer, quicker, or smarter. Everything is within. Everything exists. Seek nothing outside of yourself.Miyamoto Musashi
You may abandon your own body but you must preserve your honour.Miyamoto Musashi
