THE EVENT
The Gridiron Gala, now in its 32nd year, is one of New York’s most influential philanthropic events—uniting corporate, civic, and athletic leaders in support of United Way of NYC’s mission to break barriers in education, health, and financial stability for underserved communities.
Honoree: Joseph A. Cabrera
Vice Chairman at CBRE and longtime UWNYC Board Member, Joseph Cabrera received the award for his strategic vision and philanthropic leadership that have made a lasting impact on families across New York.
Honoree: Dasha Smith
As Executive VP and Chief Administrative Officer of the NFL, Dasha Smith was honored for her bold leadership in championing equity, inclusion, and civic engagement at the highest levels of sports. Her advocacy has opened new doors for future generations.
Honoree: Tyrod Taylor
Jets Quarterback Tyrod Taylor was recognized for his dedication to underserved youth through the Tyrod Taylor Foundation, which supports educational and personal development opportunities in communities across the country.
Honoree: Kayvon Thibodeaux
Giants linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux received the Hometown Hero award for his hands-on work with his JREAM Foundation, focused on literacy, entrepreneurship, and mentorship for young leaders—empowering them to dream bigger and aim higher.
A Night to Remember
With remarks from UWNYC leaders, NFL icons, and civic champions, the Gala reminded all attendees that impact is a team sport. The funds raised will fuel programs that address food insecurity, early childhood education, and workforce development throughout NYC.
