Pardalis & Nohavicka LLP was proud to serve as the Key sponsor for the 2025 New York Law School Sports Law Symposium, a distinguished annual gathering of legal professionals, scholars, sports executives, and students committed to advancing the field of sports law.

This year’s symposium, hosted by the NYLS Sports Law Society provided a forum for high-level discourse on the legal, commercial, and ethical dynamics shaping the sports industry today.

Our firm’s Sports & Business Law team, represented by Orion Karagiannis, Esq., assisted NYLS students in developing two days of thought-provoking panels on the following:

Sports on the Big Screen

This panel explored the intersection of sports and media law. Featuring NBC Sports General Counsel Brett Goodman, The Tennis Channel's Peter Steckelman, and Professor Mark Conrad of Fordham University the discussion reflected the increasing legal complexity of content creation and distribution in the sports entertainment space.

Growth in Women’s Sports

With expanding investment and visibility in women’s leagues, this panel addressed the legal implications of equity, sponsorship, and organizational leadership in the women's sports ecosystem. Panelists included Gregory Brehm (NJ/NY Gotham FC), Wendy Li (BSE Global), Lorine Pendleton (125 Ventures), and Nate Wood (UNC Chapel Hill), moderated by NYLS student and sports broadcaster Gigi Speer.

Sports in the Courtroom

From contract litigation and antitrust to arbitration and athlete rights, this panel focused on the adversarial and regulatory dimensions of modern sports law practice.

As Orion Karagiannis, Esq. remarked during the event:

“As the business of sports grows more complex, so too does the role of the lawyer. It’s no longer just about rules and compliance—it’s about strategy, industry fluency, and staying ahead of market shifts. This symposium reflects the kind of forward-thinking dialogue that future practitioners need.”

We thank New York Law School for the opportunity to partner on this important event.

New York Law School Intellectual Property Law Society Symposium

Pardalis & Nohavicka and Orion Karagiannis, Esq. host the New York Law School Intellectual Property Law Society Symposium!

We were especially proud to have Orion Karagiannis, Esq. representing the firm as a sponsor and host, helping to guide thought-provoking discussions on how AI is reshaping IP law—from licensing and dealmaking to risk, indemnity, and beyond.

Some highlights from the panels:
• Rethinking “confidential information” clauses in contracts
• Addressing AI-specific provisions, sanctions clauses, and force majeure updates
• The importance of TM filing for influencers & creators
• Evolving standards around fair use, and why misunderstanding it can jeopardize E&O insurance
• Whether deepfakes could trigger morals clause violations
• Global TM strategy: Filing where you sell and where counterfeit risks originate
• And why aggressive takedown letters might backfire in TM litigation

The Keynote by TED’s General Counsel  Nishat Ruiter was a powerful reminder that AI is here to stay. Legal education must evolve to prepare lawyers for an AI-integrated future—by teaching professional identity formation, confronting bias, and modernizing the curriculum. TED is even launching an initiative to do just that.
