Lunch & Learn | Protect Your Brand, Designs, and Ideas

The creative process when starting a business can be long and strenuous, with sleepless nights often spent on project deadlines and perfecting designs. That is one of the leading reasons as to why many fashion entrepreneurs, designers, and artists often forget about the essential legal aspects of art and design, which could potentially make or break their business and brand.

To facilitate in helping to address these concerns, we hosted a Lunch & Learn yesterday at WeWork 750 Lexington and covered the top legal and business issues that artists and designers typically run into. Partner, Taso Pardalis & Business Attorney, Eleni Melekou, led the interactive session and spoke on:

• The importance of protecting your intellectual property through trademark and copyright registration.
• What to look out for when inquiring about a patent registration and who really needs one.
• How to form an LLC and where you should form depending on your business type.

It seems as though most of the event attendees did their prep work and came equipped with a list of questions which ignited a fiery and engaging Q&A session. It also wouldn’t be a Lunch & Learn without gourmet coffee and delicious refreshments as a much needed afternoon pick me up. We nibbled and networked before heading back to our offices after a highly productive lunch break.
