Mini-van Used to Transport Passenger For a Fee Once Doesn't Constitute "For Hire"

The New York State Department of Financial Services permits auto insurers to exclude coverage for claims arising "while the motor vehicle is used as a public or livery conveyance."  However, a New York appellate court held that the single, isolated use for money3 by the insured owner of a mini-van did not justify disclaimer of coverage.
