New York State Court of Appeals Judge Abdus-Salaam, a talented and passionate jurist, passed away April 12th, 2017.
She was the first African-American woman and the first Muslim-American appointed to the state’s highest court. Judge Abdus-Salaam served as a City Court Judge, Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice of the Appellate Division’s First Department and, finally, as an Associate Judge on the Court of Appeals.
She will be deeply missed by the legal community and the people we serve.
